Inga - The English Trainer

of an accompanying interpreter, English trainer and translator who grew up bilingually, has lived all over the world and loves her profession

Ingeburg (Inga) von Boehm-Bezing

I was born in Germany, attended school there and as a teenager immigrated with my parents to the USA. This happenstance gave me the incredible advantage of two mother tongues: German as well as English. In 1959 I married an Austrian who worked for Lufthansa, German Airlines. For 6 years we lived in Calcutta and for about 6 years in Bangkok.

Beginning of 1963 to the end of 1974:

In India and Thailand I worked as an escort interpreter for visiting V.I.P. – pro bono, there was no pay.

From Bangkok I exported Thai silk and cotton and various handicrafts of the region to Germany, Austria, and Spain.

1974 to 1982:

In Schenevus, NY a village of 500 souls I single-handedly managed a family "business”: my three children, a large house with vegetable garden, a horse, a dog, a cat, some rabbits, etc.

1982 to 1997:

In Klagenfurt, Austria I worked for a trading company and a computer company, again in export.

At the Austro-American Society I taught English to children and adults, from beginner to advanced students.

For John Naisbitt and Neil Postman I was the escort interpreter during their lecture tours through Austria.

During the installation of American liquid packaging machines at a Carinthian dairy plant I was the interpreter and translator repeatedly.

I translated military documents (NATO).

1997 till the end of 2004:

In Greenwich, CT I worked for a large American shoe manufacturing company. I handled their private labels customers worldwide.

For a consulting company in Germany I accompanied two separate groups of Daimler-Chrysler Managers from Germany (one week each) as their escort interpreter. We visited production plants in the USA that had already implemented the Japanese Kaizen-method: Wiremold, Hartford, CT; Georgio-Foods, Reading, PA; Delphi Chassis Systems, Dayton, OH; Mercedes-Benz U.S. Intern., Tuscaloosa, AL

Since January 2005:

On December 31st, 2004 I officially went into retirement in den USA.

on June 16th, 2005 I officially opened my office for translation services (English - German - English) and business & technical training in Klagenfurt, Austria.
